COMMENT: Difference between UK & Ont. In UK patient has to register with one GP at a time. When patient changes GP the medium-sized envelope is sent to the next GP. (Notes are short.) In Ont. people are allowed to visit as many GPs as they want. All MDs have to keep records for 10y
In UK GPs are paid a capitation fee for which they are responsible 24/7/365. Time off is arranged with Locum agency which is paid by the GP.. Reason why many GPs left UK. Liberal Ont Govt wants to reduce ER visits by introducing UK-style system with house-calls on demand. CHANGE FOUNDATION which advises Ont Govt visita UK yearly.
